I don't know if this idea has been suggested before but how about a demonstation or event on making Japanese food?
The only way this could happen of course is if we had access to a kitchen which would be the hardest part.
I know that most of the ingredients are available at the Asian food stores in St. Louis.
If anyone is interested or it's possible I would be happy to host it. I know a few recipes and I'm a Culinary Arts major. :3

lol it would be interesting if hotels would actually allow you to do that kind of thing in them.

XD I feel silly. I posted this on a whim and realize now that it would be too much to ask to use the hotel kitchen.
If at the least I could cook some of the stuff in advanced. I guess it could be about making bento boxed lunches. Originally I thought about giving a demo on melon bread but that would be too much.

Skypirate, I would totally love if you brought in some melon bread <3 I'm doing a panel on living in Japan, and I'm going to bring up the topic of native food. If you attend the panel, we can definitely talk about bento and melon bread. Not quite as exciting as making it, but maybe you'll be able to help me explain a few things since you seem to know about this kindn of stuff :3

I'm not too experienced with bento but yeah, I'd be willing to go to the panel and bring from melon bread.
When are you hosting the panel?

I'm not 100% sure. I think the panel is on Sunday, but I won't be able confirm the time until the final schedule is released. You don't HAVE to bring melon bread, at least not for everybody, but if you could talk about food with me, it would be nice. I would love to eat melon bread though, I miss it >.>

Just to let you know, the hotel has approved our selling Japanese snacks. The maid cafe people are probably doing that, and there is also a dealer in the dealers' room who will have ramune and pocky and probably some gummies and gum and stuff (that was a lot of "and"s).
Cat, rice crackers might be good for your panel as you can find them cheaply at a lot of places. There's a little farmers' market back home that sells them for around a dollar a pound, and there's probably something around here like that as well.

Yeah, if someone wants to give me lots of money, I'll make sushi, but there's no such thing as a free meal.

Well, my goal is to let people try Japanese food that isn't so common place. So far I think I'm going to make Melon Pan and Anpan, green tea cake, and I may buy takoyaki too.
And if I can find the stuff, rice cakes.
