If you want your skit to go well, you should pre-record any sound effects and voice over or at least record your sound effects timed already so that you can speak over them. Our crew is good at timing, BUT they have a lot of entries to keep track of, and unless you provide them with an extremely clear script, it's difficult to keep things running back there if you have too many cues. Having pre-recorded sound timed to your movements will help a lot. You can turn that in during your tech rehearsal on Saturday. When you sign up at the con, put yourself down for a tech time. That will be your chance to rehearse with the tech crew and get a feel for the stage. You only get a few minutes, though, so practice beforehand. Your time limit is two minutes unless you get permission to go longer. We won't let ANYONE go over five minutes, and you have to submit a script to go over two minutes. In terms of lighting, we have a follow spot and some colored lights. The stage is not very big compared to many cons as we're a small, poor convention. We do, however, have really good lighting, so give us what you want, and we can probably make it happen. Now the REALLY cool thing we have is the ability to show video behind you. If you have a picture or a video you want to play behind you, turn that in at your tech rehearsal on a DVD. You can just record your music into it and put it on DVD for us to pop in the player.

No flash drive option?? And I have to turn it in during the day of the tech rehearsal?
And thanks, I will probably take advantage of the projection. I'm going for something like, once I give a verbal cue, all the lights go off, and after another cue, the video plays in the background with the audio.
Also, how non-child friendly can this be. I might have gun violence.

Gun violence is okay as long as there isn't stage blood (not for sensibility purposes but because we don't want it getting on the next person's costume).
You can bring a flash drive too, but I discourage it simply because most people are disorganized and don't know where their songs are on the drive. It wastes time during their rehearsal, and they don't get to have as long to rehearse.

Hmm. I'll try to get a DVD in, then.
... What if I arrive early? Could I just put my files on the desktop in a neat organized little folder? How loud does the sound system go, also? Loud enough for everyone to pay attention?

Heheh. The sound system goes loud enough for the hotel to shake, but I doubt we'll make it that loud.
If you want to come before Opening Ceremonies (you'll have to be there well before it at around noon or so) on Friday to put your files on the computer, I'm sure the tech crew will be happy with that. Coming early on Saturday morning will do nothing as we'll all still be asleep. Honestly, just organize your stuff. If it's neatly organized, you won't have any problems. If it isn't, you'll just waste your tech time. Just make sure the files are readable on a PC as that's what controls the show. I think we can read .movs on that computer, but you'd be safer with .wmv files.

OK, one last thing. If I sweep them up shortly afterwards, how do 50 or so 5.7 x 28mm submachine gun shells sound?

Haha. Very funny. There's always this rule: Think that's a violation. That's FAKE gun violence, good sir.

Well yeah lol I was joking.
I meant, how do a bunch of pieces of drinking straw ejected out the bottom of my fake, cardboard weapon sound? They're not even a slipping hazard, and they're aimed at the floor.
Again, I would do my best to sweep them up quickly, or get someone to do it directly after the performance.

That seems fine but a bit of a slipping hazard. We'll make sure the stage ninjas know about it, and Snake and I will stall a bit while they clean up after you.
