This is just a friendly reminder to anyone who is planning on participating in the Kawa Kon Masquerade. (If you have anything else to add to this Katrina, please feel free. ) Please be sure to have reference pictures of the costumes you are competing in so that Masquerade judges are able to see how accurate your costume is. The judges are not always familiar with every anime out there so this would be a great deal of help to them. Thanks. RaDragon76- Performance Judge- Kawa Kon 2009 Masquerade

To add to what RaDragon has said, if anyone participating wouldn't mind to make extra copies of your reference that you'll give the workmanship judges to us performance judges as well that would be great.

And remember that you have to CHECK IN at the masquerade table even if you registered by mail. You need to sign up for a tech rehearsal time if you have a skit, and you MUST attend about a 20 minute tech rehearsal at 11:20 am Saturday if you're just doing a walk-on for workmanship. Other tech rehearsals are from 9:00-11:20 am, and there will be a sign-up sheet for them at the masquerade registration area.

Two questions: 1) Where can possible participants download registration forms for the masquerade? 2) What's the deadline to register to be a part of the masquerade?

kawakon.com/masquerade.html is the place where the form is. Your deadline for emailing the form is basically the Friday a week before the con (I'll take down the form after that). You can also hand in the form when you get to the convention by taking it to the Registration desk before 9:00 p.m. on Friday if you're doing a skit and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday if you're only doing a walk-on.

I'm not sure what you mean, Fiona. Are you asking whether it's a dance? It's not. The formal dance is Friday night, and the Rave is well after the masquerade. The masquerade is a costume contest.

No I mean at natsu-con they had background music when you walked on. It just sounded like a japanese song. No voices just chimes i think.

Ah, yes, that was music I provided them with because they didn't have anything to play during it.
I'll have that CD and some other music for walk-ons that don't bring music. You're welcome to bring your own song, however.

No rehearsal on Friday, but there are rehearsals Saturday morning. There's also an optional Masquerade 101 panel on Friday that will help if you aren't sure how the masquerade will work.
You can download the form and email it to me. Instructions are on the masquerade page under "Schedule".
