A panel about shonen manga/anime that isn't Naruto, Bleach, or One Piece! Not that they aren't awesome series, but let's give some of the other shonen series some much deserved attention! So, what's your favorite shonen that aren't the three above? I'm a big fan of Flame of Recca, Yu Yu Hakusho, Muhyo & Roji, and Kuroshitsuji myself

I'd count Kuro and KKM as shoujo, especially KKM as it's pretty much adventure shounen-ai.
Golly, Sarah. All I watch is shoujo. I'm so unhelpful!
I like samurai shows too, so I guess you can add Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai Champloo, etc.
You know what... here are two shounen series I read and loved - Hikaru no Go and Samurai Deeper Kyo. In some ways, they are the epitome of shounen. HnG is about a boy trying to become "The Very Best" at a board game called Go. SDK is about this samurai with a split personality and the sort of flavor-of-the-week villains who dare to mess with him. It's kind of like Rurouni Kenshin but with characters who may actually be more insane. The anime for both of them are absolutely atrocious.

Oh I saw the anime for Hikaru no Go and thought it was pretty interesting and reminded me quite a bit of Yu-gi-Oh though a bit on the dull side, so the manga is much better?

Flint the Time Detective.... Flint the Time Detective /so much/
That was one of my 'first' anime (about the same time as Poke/Digi/Monster Rancher) and yet every one acts like... Like it never freaking existed! I can find a grand total of /0/ fans in all of existence.
Also! Mon Cole Knights! Sometimes I think I just imagined the whole thing, because no one has even bloody heard of it! It makes me cry a little inside </3
Also, a totally underrated manga is Pokemon Special/Adventure manga. I mean, it's so incredibly different from the anime in every way possible. I mean...dude! Charmeleon cuts off Arbok's head! And blood goes everywhere! That's real Pokemon battling my friends. I've noticed they're re-printing it in the states lately though! and that makes me all kinds of happy~ I never got to read GSC series, so I'm right on that!
Hmmm... Rurouni Kenshin is certainly on my list. It's on my list as the best example of what a good anime is. I also liked Ronin Warriors (another 'first' anime for me) and Saint Seya, but again, I can't find /anyone/ that's heard of them, much less adores them like I did.
I was hard core into Yu Yu Hakusho for years (and along with Digimon is what got me into Yaoi, hah!). I remember the first time I saw it, I was 11 years old, and I had met this girl in my neighborhood for the first time, she dragged me off to her house to read old copies of Shonen Jump and watch Yu Yu Hakusho with her! Best. Neighbor. Ever. She moved like a month later though, which was totally sad. I got even /more/ into the show after that, because now I had no one to play with. I even remember picking up the YYH card game for the brief moment that it was popular in the states. I still have my tournament winning deck. It's actually a pretty awesome game, I wish I could find people who play it. (That and the .HACK card game, even though I sucked at it, it was fun.)
...I don't think you'd really consider .hack//SIGN a shonen anime, would you? Its more of a mindf**k anime really...

Fairy Tail - Awsome series, it's right up there with One Piece. Kekkaishi - the first part of the series is a little iffy and slow but it gets REALLY deep and complex. They have been on this current arc for the past 3/4 of the series. But nonetheless; great art, great story, great characters and all around a great series to follow. Shaman King - It's SOO different from the anime, seriously no joke. Still the great series I saw back in 2004. Oh god...I've been since 2003 and it's now 2011..... Law of Ueki - One of my friends introduced me to it. It's really funny, the art as defined as the other series but it's its own design and style, overall it works really well the way it is presented.
