This is DJ Ataru. DJ Ldes and I will be rockin' the place again (or so I have been told) and I wanted to open this thread for requests. Please post the artist, song name (if a remix, the remixer) and the record label if you can (will aid in finding it). That way, we can include requests and make sure the sound quality does not suffer!
I have not made up my set yet but I will have lots of Jpop remixes in trance/house style, along with Tech House, and D&B. Ldes will not disappoint either!

Yup. Once he sees this, we can probably merge these. I'd rather keep his thread as the main one, though, because he introduces himself in it.

Yea, I agree. I thought it would be easier to go ahead and send a link to this for the time being, and perhaps mod could fix the split.

Here's something I want: sampling of themes from all sorts of things mixed into the rave music.
Here are some songs that would be fun to have just bits of:
TV themes like The Simpsons, Inspector Gadget, Captain Planet, Beverly Hillbillies, Star Trek, etc.
Anime themes
Movie themes like Back to the Future, Star Wars, Jaws, etc.
One thing I love (I'm sure it annoys SOMEONE, though) is voice samples, especially when they're recognizable lines.

Thanks for the suggestions. Themes are tough to sample due to beat matching issues. Since we are doing a rave, the BPMs will be 130+ and themes are just not that quick. Upping the BPM of the theme will make them sound very strange. As for voice samples, I will see what I can do. I am sure there are lots of samples out there from anime and whatever.

I think we have a couple of them at high bpm with a dance beat. I think we have two Star Wars (main theme and Imperial March), Ghostbusters, and The Simpsons. I really want to find a Beverly Hillbillies dance remix.

No to be two negative here, but DJ sets are made to be cohesive. The songs are 1) harmonically mixed so the sangs blend together well and 2) they are usually of a particular genre. It really kills a dance floor to go from one genre to another. The difference between a pro (or emi-pro DJ is that we put many hour into choosing songs that can be mixed together. That way, there is not break in the dance floor. I do value everyone's suggestions and will work to include everything that can be included given the genre, BPM, mood, etc. But I cannot promise anything. Even thought the Imperial death march may sound cool, it will most likely mix like crap due to its nature. However, if you have a particular mix in mind, give me the specifics and I can look it up! Keep 'em coming!

It is a specific mix, Ataru. I can give it to you to listen to pre-convention. I'm not sure that you know that this is Katrina, so I'll be seeing you guys prior to the con and can give you this stuff to see if it works. Most people's complaints last year were that there weren't enough "fandom"-type songs. People asked for remixes of popular songs.

I know what you are saying and I do not think it i understood how hard it is to do a real rave as opposed to something like an iTunes shuffle. L and yob is to keep the floor moving. When you have to include elements from differing keys and BPMs, etc., you really break the rhythm of the dance floor. After all, theh DJs job is to keep the floor moving. Having said that, we have several ideas for fan service this year, so hopefully theh complaints wil be remediated. Somewhat,
