Bolstered by the popularity of events such as the interactive showing of Repo! The Genetic Opera and the Batman mystery party, we have added tons of events of the non-anime variety. Why are we doing that? Well, for one, we have more space. We have a brand new room, and we're also setting up our masquerade green room to free up two previously-used rooms during the five hours they would usually be closed for masquerade judging and photos. That means about 50 extra hours of programming space we didn't have last year! What have we done with it? Added tracks for stuff we've heard you're interested in! Most of our major events can be found on the Events Page kawakon.com/events.html of the website, but you'll want to scroll down to the New Events to see what cool stuff we've added for 2012. And we're planning even more for 2013! Want to get in on planning for 2013? Put your suggestions for events, panels, and entire tracks here!

Boy, making the decisions about what extra stuff to go to is going to be tough this year. XD
By next year I ought to be more than ready to do a panel on Japanese yokai for the Japanese culture track. If it fits next year's theme, so much the better.
I'd also been thinking about doing Japanese horror stories sometime, but it looks like Three Rivers Okiya beat me to it!

The 2013 theme is "Kickin' It Old School". The name may change, but the idea will stay the same. It's nostalgia for the childhoods of most of our con-goers (meaning the 70s-90s). We're working on a theme track room decorated to look like a classroom with some old posters on the walls and a Lupin the 3rd wall clock. Should be awesome! EDIT: I love your little flavor text, btw.
