Ok, first off, I LOVED the majority of the Con, so don't take this as hateful, I just see a lot of problems that can be easily corrected.
Crane Event
It was a wonderful idea, and I loved it, but as I'm sure alot of people heard, someone collected half of the winning ones.
My suggestion; Do this event again, but don't put out the cranes until after opening ceremonies, and don't tell everyone what color of cranes are winners until closing ceremonies.
Kawa Kon Snap
I LOVED this event. However, as one of the few entrants, I noticed two problems. Several professional photographers entered, and the results were given during closing ceremonies.
Solution; CLASSES. Do Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional. And show the results during closing ceremony. Easy as pie.
Masquerade
First off, Kelly Farwell did the best she could with what she was given. None of this is directed toward her, she was great.
...
Please, please, please, get more judges! Two is no where near enough for the workmanship division, there needs to be more opinions.
Also, please coordinate better! I know there was some radio trouble at the beginning of the masquerade, but there's no reason the staff shouldn't have all been briefed before hand. The staff directing entrants onto the stage didn't know that we were suppose to go to the audience, they initially were telling us to go back up to the green room.
Music. Please, somehow, coordinate the music better. I was the #5 entrant (Ichigo) that received no music during my walk-on. I think that was highly unfair, and greatly affected my judging.
Last, the awards. I understand perfectly awards such as best in show, in all the different levels, but PLEASE don't add crap like "Best Use of Dead Furniture" and "Most Disturbing". IMHO, that was complete BS. Did anyone realize all but 3 contestants won awards!?
19 awards, out of 22 entrants. How is that even remotely fair? Yes, I was one of the 3 and I put A LOT of work in my cosplay, but some guy that bought most of his costume wins "Best Use of Dead Furniture". And YES, his was bought, he lied. He only made the sword, he was bragging about lying in the green room.
That leads me to another thing, when they judge the costumes for workmanship, get some judges that will actually LOOK at them! I know, I was judged, they didn't even look at any details. They couldn't have told if had made or bought mine which is ridiculous.
I'm sorry if I seem a bit enraged, but I am. Just please, organize better, get some fair judges, and quit making up awards just because.

Alright heres my feedback
Vampire Knight Ball This was amazing event, and I understand that the staff wasn’t hosting this but a lot of times the cast bailed out and no one could find them for a while. But in general it was very good and I loved it.
Masquerade I agree with the whole judging thing. I was LaPlace’s Demon and they looked at the furhead of my cosplay but they didn’t try to even look at details of the suit at all. Also the awards, I thought the judges choice awards were actually very unique and cool, but I agree more workmanship judges are needed.
Staff I loved how the staff were on top of things and very friendly this year
I loved kawa kon in general though so please don’t be angry about my small critique

Ah, yes, you were one of the ones I think deserved a reasonable award. Thanks for contributing.

I actually thought how they matched up the awards specific to a cosplay was really good, thanks

In light of the past cons I've been too (ASTL 08, Kawa Kon 09) I think it's a significant improvement over last year by leaps and bounds. It might just be that my outlook has improved significantly, but things seemed far smoother this year.
One thing I remember being most annoying last year was that the hotel staff continuously yelled at us and chewed us out when we weren't doing anything. I didn't witness ANY of that this year, and in fact the hotel staff were all very courteous, and several asked me, in an honest attempt to understand what they were seeing, what exactly was going on. I thought this was a massive improvement, and I'm not sure if this is necessarily directly related to work done by the Kawa Kon staff, or if last year were were just stuck with a particularly angsty hotel staff. Regardless, I found that pleasant.
While the late start was probably convenient for a lot of the school kids who wanted to come, as one who checked in close to 9am, I found the extensive lull in activity to be a bit excessive. Maybe there could be some events or panels scheduled during those earlier time slots that are targeted more for college students or adults who can afford to waste a whole day (or maybe can only come early in the day and can't hang around later). Obviously we want the majority of people to get to go to everything, but I'm not sure I see the consolation in showing up early again unless I can find something to do besides distract the dealers until 4:30pm.
I have to admit, the highlight for me was the ball. I thought it was the most amazing and unique experience at the convention, and I actually found myself more drawn to it than the rave! (no disrespect to the rave DJs, who did a good job). I thought it was unfortunate that many people left before the whole thing was over because it was a lot of fun. I would like to see another next year! (and shout out to all the Silver Aura of Dawn Cosplayers, who were really amazing and nice.)
Going back to the rave. With out a doubt it needs to be better ventilated, end of discussion really. As I was going down the stairs, I felt the temperature leap at least 5 degrees, and then another 10 when I actually went into the room. At the absolutely least someone needed to crack a window, I'm really surprised we didn't have a few dead cosplayers. I was a little creeped out by the water being provided inside the rave, I'm not sure if someone was watching it at all times, but if it were me, I would have someone sitting next to it. That being said, I managed to be one of the unlucky ones who picked up one spiked drink out of 100 that were being closely monitored at the previous dance I went to.
I'm not touching the masquerade rant with a ten-foot pole, because I can barely staple two pieces of paper together, much less sew. I thought as a whole the event was entertaining and well executed, aside from the minor black out during one of the skits. I thought everyone in it was amazing (despite being confused by a few outfits and what they were attempting).
The one thing that disappointed me most was the broken AMV contest. I personally adore all things AMV, both making and watching. The fact the several of them didn't work (especially 2nd place!) made me depressed. Maybe next year discuss about having contestants load the files on a small flash drive instead of disks, which can be easily damaged in the mail. A small flash drive (less than a gig, but can hold quite a few movies) runs about $10, roughly the same as buying a small pack of blank DVDs anyway. Just a suggestion though, obviously. Next year I'd like to see a lot more!
I don't mean to sound so down, because honestly I thought as a whole it was all amazing, and really, it all went way too fast for me. I'm honestly already looking forward to next year with great zeal, and I would have pre-registered today if I could have!
Most if not all of the problems I had were related to individual people and groups, people who felt the need to be excessively rude, and people who kept shouting "THE GAME" loudly in the hall ways some time around 3AM. Obviously you can't regulate the behavior of the individuals, so it more or less comes down to gently reminding them that everybody represents our community as a whole. When you come across as a jerk, you make us all look bad. Not all, but I think some people severely needed to be reminded of this.
I did write some EXTENSIVE blog-style posts outlining everything I went to in deep detail that I'll I'll tack up later, once I run them though spell check and such. I tried to hit as many different panels and events as possible, so I think my assessments are well rounded.
All in all, I thought it was an amazing convention. I can't wait to attend again next year. I hope you all had as awesome of a time as I had. Hope to see you all again next year!

<_< ok listen i worked hard on my cosplay TOO! I was hoping to get something for my feather sword. I also think your statment of Unfair is "unfair".... the point of rewards means it stands out more than others not everyone gets them. I started working on my sword in December, and veraly got it done for this con. Yes i one of the lucky ones to get one reward, and i'm happy that i just to get that. The fact that they thought it was a higher class than i really am as for as sewing ^_^ i have made a lot of props, but not sure how to rate that so ya.

Not everyone SHOULD get one. The problem though was that like 19 of the entrants won something, that's too many winners compared to the entrants.

well, there's no perfect solution to the crane issue, but we'll be better prepared for next year. This Year was AWESOME, PROFOUND, WICKED, in short...I Loved It!!! Hi, Tails here. Oh, I just was not sure how my homemade costume was gonna look. I was going for cute and cuddly, but wasn't sure how everyone would respond to it. You all made me feel like 100 Billion Dollars (pinky at lips). This year was such a blast, and although the RAVE wasn't crowded and was cut short...I have to say that made it all the better. Once again, you guys are the best and thank you for the most revolutionary weekend I've had in ages!!!!

I think it went very well and i'm glap people enjoyed it!! i bet mimi would be ecstatic to hear this >>Vampire Knight Ball This was amazing event, and I understand that the staff wasn’t hosting this but a lot of times the cast bailed out and no one could find them for a while. But in general it was very good and I loved it. i know someone had issues with contacts and i had to rest my poor feet for a while. and then we were going to stage a kidnapping but that never played out so some of us were missing for that part. once again i'm soooo happy you guys liked it

VK Panel:
Chibi Zero and the Lavis! OMG! Thank you for making me laugh. You made a stressful day a bit easier. Also, a big thanks to all the questions that were asked. As an awnser to "What shampoo does Kaname use?", I was very tempted to say "Herbal Essence". XD
VK Ball:
One thing that was brought to my attention on Sunday was some of the cast didn't waltz. I was Ruka, honestly I was quite sure that my partner (Kain) and I did waltz. Granted, I can not go back to that moment to check if we did or not, I just know I did try and waltz. I also must apologize as I was a "downer" but I did dance with a few people. Even for me the cards were very confusing. I found out all the cards were the same about two hours later. I apologize for the people I turned away because I didn't know this.
The Cranes:
We were given a crane and, darn me, lost it! Guess what, it was a winning crane as well. *sad face* I bet when I clean out my suitcase that I will find that crane!
Panels (Who's Line, Geek, and MGS):
These were some of the first panels I ever went to at a con and they made me very happy. The hosts were fantastic! They all managed to make me laugh.
Host Party:
I thought it was very well organized and planned. The only thing I would change is the age limit on who can attend. Some of the patrons were pretty rude and I wanted to kick them out. I do apologize for the fact I had to leave quickly. The biggest reason was I had to get to VK Ball setup and the second reason, the story I started was read at my table first, I was throughly embarassed....XD
Closing Ceremonies:
I never have personally been to the closing ceremonies as I usually leave between 10 am and noon. I enjoyed it, really I did. I gotsa sheep! XD That was fun. One thing that annoyed me was the person that put someone on speaker and they either said "The Game" or "You Lost The Game", I dunno but it was rude.
